What the programme does

ENABLE Works in Edinburgh is delivering the Stage 2 and Stage 3 Programmes of the Employability Fund. Candidates will work towards a Personal Development Award in Employability qualification through group work, planning and delivering a Community Impact Project and (when possible due to Covid) participate in a real work experience placement (at Stage 3 only).

How the programme works

The aim of this 10 week, remote delivery, the programme is to ensure learners, who have learning disabilities and or learning difficulties can develop the skills and experience necessary to progress towards employment. This will be achieved by developing the core and basic skills required to make a successful journey into sustainable employment, moving to other forms of training or entering Further Education.

Communication, Interpersonal and Team building skills will play a large part in the individuals' development. They will also investigate the world of work and be supported to make realistic career choices and goals.

Learners will be shown and supported to create a CV, attend mock interviews, understand the world of work, learn about personal presentation and how best to communicate effectively. The students are also given the opportunity to plan, organise and participate in a Community Impact Project.

As part of the Stage 3 programme, learners may also be placed outwith the training centre to experience other forms of work and to investigate employment opportunities within their areas.

Our programme specialises in supporting young people with a wide range of additional support needs which may include low self-esteem, learning barriers and literacy issues.

If a participant is not in receipt of benefits and under the age of 18 – they are also entitled to a Young Persons’ Allowance of £55 per week for attending this programme.
