Edinburgh Strategy Workshop

Edinburgh’s economy faces the biggest challenge for more than a generation. The City of Edinburgh Council is looking to forge a strong and sustainable recovery for Scotland’s Capital by developing a refreshed strategy. A refreshed approach is required that responds to new pressures arising from both the pandemic and Brexit, in addition to the long-term challenges identified in the 2018 Edinburgh Economy Strategy.

We have an online consultation survey to support our engagement. Please take your time to look over and respond to the Edinburgh Economy Strategy consultation(this will open in a new window) which closes on the 22nd of October 2021.

Stakeholders we have spoken to so far informed us that the approach to recovery and the long term sustainable growth for Edinburgh’s economy depends on the role of partners in the city. Continued access to employability services and new skills acquisition for work are required now more than ever. In future, new skills will be required at a much higher frequency than before as jobs continue to evolve at a rapid pace as new technology, new green sectors, and new ways of working emerge.

To supplement our formal consultation survey we are looking to run a dedicated workshop with the Joined Up for Jobs network to discuss this in more detail and ask what more can we do as a city. The workshop will run on Tuesday 28 September, from 11:00 - 12:30.
