Smoking and Mental Health - Free on-line training

FREE training sessions on the adverse effects of smoking on mental health and mental health medication for Third Sector Support Workers (including Volunteers, Peer Mentors and Carers), NHS and Local Authority workers in adult services, providing support to people who have mental health problems. First a short e-learning module followed up with a one or two-hour session delivered through Zoom two weeks later.

There is a one-hour and a two-hour session. Dates:

One-hour sessions:

  • 7th September 2022
  • 5th October 2022
  • 9th November 2022
  • 30th November 2022

Two-hour sessions:

  • 21st September 2022
  • 19th October 2022
  • 16th November 2022
  • 14th December 2022.

This training is only available to services that support adults.

The one-hour session covers:

  • effect of smoking on mental health medication
  • facilitating discussions about smoking and mental health
  • e-cigarettes
  • local services to help people stop smoking.

Additionally, the two-hour session also covers:

  • IMPACT guidance document
  • Ask, Inform, Discuss (AID) brief advice framework
  • How AID supports workplace priorities.
