Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - Balfour Beatty at North Bridge supports Grassmarket Community Project
Capital City Partnership, representing Joined Up for Business, have been supporting Balfour Beatty at The North Bridge Project(this will open in a new window) to meet their Community Benefit KPI's.
In the early stages of the project, Balfour Beatty removed 500 sleepers from the bridge structure. Balfour Beatty's project teams are committed to the local communities in which they work and the North Bridge team wanted to donate the sleepers to a local organisation who benefit from the donation. Capital City Partnership, using the contacts of the 'Joined Up...' partnerships, connected the project team with Grassmarket Community Project who accepted the 500 sleepers for their Wood Recycling Social Enterprise.
The donation's social value was c. £2,500 however the benefit for Grassmarket Community Project was greater as they sell the products created from the sleepers.
