RUTS Kick-Start Employability

RUTS are recruiting for new EF stage 2 and 3 courses for Edinburgh young people aged between 16 & 24 who are currently not in education/training or employment. Start date: Monday 23 September.

RUTS unique training course 'Skills for Work, Tools for Work and Working Healthy' programmes are designed to progress trainees onto a sustainable positive destination such as employment, modern apprenticeship or Higher Education through a vocational based training programme.

Each participant will collaboratively design a tailored and progressive individual training plan which is continually monitored against key milestones to track progress towards desired goal(s) using a person centred approach.

What will be covered

Trainees will work towards a progressive individual training plan which will identify and remove barriers to progression into employment or higher education. A focus on the development of core skills will feature throughout the programme such as; communication, CV building, interview techniques and working with others.

A work placement will be arranged to help consolidate and compliment class room based training within the trainees desired sector of interest where possible. This can include but not limited to retail and customer service, warehousing, hospitality, trades and construction.

Throughout the duration of the course, trainees will also have the opportunity to complete a variety of vocational projects further enhancing practical abilities and offering opportunities to discover and build upon new skill sets.

Eligible trainees can also receive a weekly training allowance of £55 and travel expenses of up to £16 per week.
