Health Inequalities Peer Research
Opportunity for men aged 25-40 to participate in peer research
The Poverty Alliance and Scottish Community Development Centre are delivering a peer research project around health inequalities, particularly in relation to employability and housing.
The peer research is part of a wider project focused on the social determinants of health in Scotland; it is funded by the Health Foundation and led by the Scottish Health Equity Research Unit (SHERU) at the University of Strathclyde. More information about the wider programme is included in the accompanying document.
One of the sites for the research is Edinburgh and the project is looking to work with local organisations to recruit peer researchers who will in turn lead research on the social determinants of health. The project is looking to recruit younger men living on low incomes and from marginalised communities.
If your organisation is interested in working with SCDC and the Poverty Alliance to help recruit for, and support, this work, please get in touch with Andrew Paterson from SCDC and/or Laura Robertson from the Poverty Alliance (contact details below) to arrange a meeting to give you more information and answer any questions you may have.
The attached documents provide more detail about how the peer research programme will work and what it aims to do, as well as about the training provided to peer researchers and payment for supporting organisations and peer researchers. Please do not share the participant information sheet yet, as it’s only for background information right now.
