Introduction to Childcare Course

Direct Partners are offering a fully-funded Introduction to Childcare course in partnership with DWP.

This course aims to help individuals gain certificates relating to childcare, and make a match with employer partners for interviews and potential employment.

Criteria:

  • 18 years+
  • Candidates must be with the jobcentre (have a Work Coach), and in receipt of benefits eg Universal Credit/ new Job Seekers Allowance, as this course is funded by DWP.
  • Funding is available for those living in East, West and Midlothian and Edinburgh. You should be happy to travel to our training room at Dewar Place Lane, near Haymarket. Work Coaches can help with travel expenses.
  • Be available to attend 2 Weeks training, Mon-Thu 9.30am-1.30pm, starting Monday 29th April
  • Cannot also be with Fairstart Scotland, due to funding.
  • Intermediate level of English or above
  • Must be able to move into employment straight away, after successful interview (must have National Insurance number and Right to Work in UK)

This 2 week course includes:

  • 8 days of training with 1:1 mentoring feedback and support sessions
  • Working towards industry recognised certificates: Introduction to Childcare, NQ Process of Play including Play types, Play theories, and Play spaces. Child Protection, Personal Development, and Communication
  • Meet the employer session with introduction to Early Years and Afterschool Club roles and settings
  • 1:1 CV building and interview preparation
  • Support with job applications
  • Guaranteed interviews for live vacancies with our partner employers.
